Tatu came with me from Boston, at the time she was seven months old.
She grew to be enormous and I took her to Mauá.
She stayed with my friend Kiki at first, ate a few ducks and chickens and struck out.
From there she went to live with Guta who had a guesthouse near our farm.
They got along just fine. Tatu had various litters of 15, 17 puppies.
Even today there are some black dogs around.
Every time she saw me she would turn into a puppy again, jump into my lap,
bite me, lick me, and she only weighed about 100 pounds.
